DEFINITION – Measurable Learning Objectives (MLOs) refer to a set of statements which clearly and precisely describe what a student intends to accomplish during the work experience.
PRINCIPLE – Work-Based Learning is an academic program. Credit is not given for working alone, but for the learning that occurs through working. MLOs are the primary method for evaluating this learning.
STRUCTURE – An MLO statement combines four major variables to form a single sentence. The variables or components are:
EXAMPLES – The following are acceptable MLOs:
✅ By the end of the term (Time Frame), I will design and build a new chair (Activity) that meets company construction specifications (Forecast) as evaluated by my supervisor (Evaluation).
✅ By the end of my WBL term (Time Frame), I will increase my typing speed (Activity) from 50 to 60 wpm while maintaining or decreasing my present error rate (Forecast) as judged by my supervisor (Evaluation).
