Work-Based Learning
Description of Measurable Learning Objectives (MLO)
Writing Guidelines:
Here are some important things to remember when writing MLOs:
- Carefully review your job duties and responsibilities, noting areas in which you can:
- Gain or develop new skills
- Increase your knowledge
- Improve your work ethic
- Avoid broad, general objectives; make them specific and measurable
- Confine your objectives to those that can be accomplished by the end of the semester/term
- Be sure you have the knowledge, skill, time, and freedom to accomplish your objectives
Exercise:
In the space below, write different versions of your MLOs and revise until you are satisfied.
Example: By the end of the semester (TIME FRAME), I will be able to typeset and layout electronically and error-free, four-page newsletter (ACTIVITY and FORECAST) that meets the standards of my supervisor (EVALUATION).
