Work-Based Learning Program Agreement
The following statements constitute the Agreement on which participation in the Work Based Learning Education Program at James Sprunt Community College (JSCC) is based:
College Responsibilities
- Assess the student's skills, capacities, and career objective.
- Refer the student to an employer of interest.
- Provide consultation and coordination between the student, the employer, and the College.
- Approve and evaluate the student's Measurable Learning Objectives for each training period.
- Make arrangements for and conduct on-site visits with the student and their immediate supervisor.
- Determine a grade for the WBL experience and award college credit based on the student's performance and completion of required reports.
Employer Responsibilities
- Provide a minimum of at least 160 hours of work per credit hour. Either 160, 320, or 480 hours of employment per semester/term depending on course credit assigned. Example: WBL 111 – 160 hours, WBL 112 – 320 hours, WBL 113 – 480 hours.
- Identify a qualified employee to serve as the immediate supervisor who will assist the student in developing and evaluating the Measurable Learning Objectives that will be related to the student's academic studies.
- Permit on-site visits by a JSCC representative.
- Notify the JSCC WBL Education Office at the college at least one (1) week before any action that might result in the termination or change of employment status of the student.
